Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. As a Staff Accountant, the selected team member will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records and ensuring that all accounting operations are accurate and compliant. The Staff Accountant will maintain the general ledger, prepare and review monthly financial statements, analyze financial records, and support monthly closing processes. Job Duties

  • Prepare financial statements and detailed reports, ensuring completeness and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Develop spreadsheet reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial records to provide insights into the company’s financial health.
  • Prepare accurate journal entries and support documentation for monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Reconcile accounts and balance sheets to ensure consistency and accuracy of data.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger with accuracy.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies or unusual activity in account balances.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of the operating budget and performance projections.
  • Assist in the tracking of expenditures and the monitoring of budget compliance.
  • May participate in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding accounting policies and procedures to ensure resources comply with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Respond to information requests by researching and interpreting financial data.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions from internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Meet all processing and reporting deadlines consistently.
  • Other accounting duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Awareness and sensitivity of the constituents and the populations served by employees.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet reporting.
  • Participate in Performance & Quality Improvement (PQI) activities as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is highly preferred. Demonstrated accounting work experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Knowledge and experience with accounting concepts and procedures.
  • Accounting experience in a non-profit environment preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and ability to drive for organization business.
