Position Summary: The Pre/Post CNA, provides direct patient care and support under the supervision of registered nurses and medical staff and an orthopedic surgical center. This role is responsible for assisting patients before surgery, monitoring and comforting them post-operatively, and ensuring a smooth recovery process. The CNA will uphold high standards of patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality while delivering compassionate care. Position Requirements
Education: High School Education or GED required.
Licensure: Registered with the State of Nebraska as CNA required.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required or within 90 days of hire.
Experience:
- Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred.
- 1+ year customer service work in a health care setting preferred.

Essential Job Functions
- Perform basic patient care functions by complying with established protocols, policies, procedures, and standards based on individual patient needs under the direction of licensed nursing personnel to ensure quality patient care
- Function as a team member by demonstrating initiative and flexibility in the completion of workload to provide high-quality, efficient patient care.
- Interact with patients and other health care professionals utilizing appropriate communication skills so that efficiency, productivity, and quality of care are enhanced.
- Perform clerical tasks and patient registration activities to ensure efficient workflow in the unit.
- Must be able to work from detailed verbal or written instructions and use judgment for routine situations.
- Maintain patient medical records by following correct procedures to ensure accurate and timely availability of patient information.
- Assisting patients with changing into surgical attire while providing reassurance and education
- Guiding patients with mobility including transfers to a wheelchair and walking while always ensuring patient safety
- Helping the nurse to maintain observations of patients by anticipating and responding to patient needs
- Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.

- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the department including stocking and preparing for the next day
- Participating in teaching, orienting and guiding other employees by sharing knowledge and master skills.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
