Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapy, this position must have expertise in evaluating and treating upper extremity conditions, including post-surgical cases, traumatic injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal issues. This role involves evaluating, diagnosis, and implementing individualized treatment plans to restore function, reduce pain, and enhance overall quality of life. They work closely with the medical team including physicians, physical therapy and ancillary staff to coordinate care for optimal patient outcomes.

Position Requirements

Education: Graduate of an approved program for occupational therapy required.

Licensure: Fully licensed to practice occupational therapy in the state of Nebraska and / or Iowa required.

Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of hire.
  • Advanced Certifications & Training Preferred, Certified Hand Therapy, or similar for review preferred.
  • Tenured Professional Experience in lieu of certifications may be considered.
  • Encourage working toward advanced certification if not currently held.

Experience: 1+ years of experience with Hand Therapy, Certified Hand Therapist required.

  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks and prioritize activities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Deliver high quality clinical care and customer service
  • Establish goals and treatment plans in collaboration with the patient, family members and healthcare team.
  • Provide treatment services to restore, maintain or improve patient functions.
  • Promote and advance the hospital's vision to be the BEST through department initiatives and community outreach.
  • Develop and enhance the vision of the department with an emphasis on growth and program development.
  • Promote collaboration with referring physicians.
  • Offer clinical instruction to occupational therapy students.
  • Must be able and willing to collaborate with others as demonstrated by good listening skills, honest and respectful communication, and engaging in the process of reaching consensus when making decisions.
  • Displays flexibility and adaptability to provide patient education regarding their specific physical therapy treatment needs.
  • Ability to problem solve with patients, team and other departments within OrthoNebraska.
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
