Are you an experienced inpatient medical coder looking for a high-impact, fully remote opportunity? Our trusted partner, Health Partners Management Group, has limited FULLTIME REMOTE opportunities for experienced Inpatient coders to support Military Treatment Facilities/Hospitals throughout the Pacific Rim.
Position Overview:
- Title: Inpatient Medical Coder (Medical Coder III)
- Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Location: 100% Remote (Must reside & work in the U.S.)
- Start Date: July 1st (Offer must be accepted by April 28th)
- Compensation: $37/hour
- Schedule: 8-hour shifts

What You'll Do:
- Accurately assigns diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient facility and professional services to include, but not limited to; inpatient stays, surgical procedures, dental surgical procedures, anesthesia services, ancillary services, and inpatient external resource sharing agreement (ERSA) encounters IAW DHA accuracy, completeness, productivity, and timeliness standards IAW DoDI 6040.42.
- Ensures correct assignment of DRGs for inpatient stays.
- Code inpatient discharge records with correct and optimal DRG assignment, Relative Weighted Product (RWP) and Relative Value Units (RVUs)
- Performs necessary tasks within MHS GENESIS® and other military coding systems (to include, but not limited to, 3M Encompass 360, Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV)) to complete encounters.
- May be tasked with assisting with ambulatory and outpatient coding.
- Researches and resolves coding edit failures as assigned.
Who We're Looking For:
Experience Requirements:
- RHIT or RHIA required (or 5 years of experience and a AHIMA or AAPC certification)
- 5+ years of medical coding/auditing experience in 2+ specialties OR 3+ years of experience in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
- At least 1 year of inpatient coding experience required.
Knowledge & Skills:
- ICD-CM, PCS, HCPCS, CPT coding expertise
- Understanding of DRGs, PPS, APCs, RBRVS
- Familiarity with EHR systems & military coding platforms
- Strong grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, & reimbursement guidelines
- 80% minimum score on coding assessment
