 Job Summary: Position provides supervision to the Healthy Families America program team. The position supervises and provides accountability to team members, known as Family Resource Specialists, while encouraging professional growth and development. Additionally, this position provides direct program services to participants when appropriate and when necessary, as assigned by the Healthy Families America Program Coordinator and/or by the Children and Family Center Director.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise Healthy Families America program team members, known as Family Resource Specialists, including assigning caseloads.
  2. Provide support at events hosted by HFA or NCHS.
  3. Responsible for hiring, orientation and performance management according to NCHS’s policies and procedures.
  4. Providing ongoing training and support through regular reflective supervision to all team members, which includes case review, performance evaluations and service plan reviews as required by NCHS and HFA policies and procedures.
  5. Provide program management services that include participation in quality management, community outreach to reach program and/or NCHS capacity and meeting established program goals.
  6. Analyze program data and evaluations ensuring outcomes are being met.
  7. Adheres to NCHS, Nebraska, and model, if applicable, confidentiality requirements and ensures maintenance of confidentiality of program records and communications.
  8. Ensure fidelity to the Healthy Families America model.
  9. Ensure fidelity to the evidence-based curriculums and models used with families.
  10. Assist team members working with families to find and utilize community resources to access additional help and support.
  11. Promote the use of a wide range of approaches based on individual service planning. Coach team members to create and implement individual service plans and goal plans with each participant utilizing the Mobility Mentoring Model.
  12. Collaborate with other NCHS programs and community agencies and services including school personnel, and other health care providers to ensure appropriate support for families.
  13. Attend community meetings as identified by NCHS, supervisor or Director to collaborate with agencies, networks and partners to advance NCHS mission, vision, and values.

  9. Bilingual (preferred) 
  10. Ongoing compliance with program fidelity and funding requirements.
  11. Demonstration of respect, appreciation, and sensitivity for diversity.
  12. Show flexibility regarding work schedule (in collaboration with your supervisor); some evening, weekend, or on-call hours may be necessary
  13. Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or the Children and Family Center Director.

 

  Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:

  1. Minimum Education and Experience:
    1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or fields related to working with children and families required; Master’s degree in a Human Services field preferred   degree preferred
    2. Three - Five years of direct experience working with individuals and families required.
    3. Two-Three years of Supervisory experience preferred.
    4. Willing to engage in building reflective capacity and experience with reflective practice preferred.
    5. Infant mental health endorsement through Nebraska Association for Infant Mental Health preferred
  2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    1. Experience in home visiting with a strong background in early childhood prevention services
    2. Experience working with team members from diverse backgrounds and supporting them in intense working environments.
    3. Embrace and champion NCHS’ culture of belonging through proactive involvement in anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices.
    4. Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment.
    5. A solid understanding of or experience in supervising diverse team members with humility, as well as providing support to team members in stressful work environments
    6. Embraces the concepts of family-centered and strength-based service provision
    7. Knowledge of parent-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect
    8. Experience supporting culturally diverse communities and families
    9. Commitment to empowering others to solve their own problems.
    10. Belief in a nurturing family as the ideal environment for a person and that people have the capacity to grow and change.
    11. Ability to develop respectful relationships with people served to help them gain skills and confidence.
    12. Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and other professionals.
    13. Ability to maintain a supportive role with team members, intervene appropriately to meet program goals, and model appropriate boundaries with team members and families.
    14. Skills in working with participants who may be resistant to services.
    15. Ability to ask questions of their supervisor, Director or other NCHS team members if the answer is not known or it is not clear how to proceed in a situation.
    16. Ability to make independent decisions, as appropriate, and act accordingly, or with minimal support from the supervisor. Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions with consultation from their supervisor, Coordinator, Director or other NCHS team members as outlined in NCHS’s policies/procedures or processes if applicable, in crisis situations.
    17. Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases and individual team member issues, and (frequently simultaneously) to analyze and apply larger, systemic issues.
    18. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    19. Successfully complete a defensive driving course sanctioned by the National Safety Council.
    20. Ability to interact with families and team members with humility, sensitivity, and responsiveness to diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds in the service population.
    21. Ability to be accepting of individual differences.
    22. Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations, and procedure manuals.
    23. Ability to respond to inquiries and possible concerns from participants and other providers.
    24. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
    25. Ability to allow for adjustments from week to week in the number of hours worked by specialists.

 

3.Physical Demand:

  1. The ability to frequently communicate with NCHS team members and community partnerships.
  2. Able to inspect written communication and respond to directions and hazards.
  3. Able to move equipment weighing up to 35 pounds.
  4. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs in the building and home structures.
  5. Able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  6. Able to remain in a stationary position and move about different work environments.
  7. This position requires access to reliable and safe transportation. A copy of insurance and registration will be required upon hiring.

4. Site factors (work location, environment, travel, etc.):

  1. Work is completed in an office setting, in family homes and remotely.
  2. Location of this position is in Nebraska
  3. Local travel will be required with State-wide travel on occasion.

Compensation: $55,000-$60,000/year, depending on education and experience
