Job Title:  Farm Maintenance

Job Title Code:  2112

Number of Days Worked:  3-5 days a week /20-25 hours

Department:  Program Services - Gifford Farm Education Center

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Immediate Supervisor/Job Summary:  Working under the direction of the Executive Director of Program Services, Buildings and Grounds Coordinator and the Gifford Farm Coordinator, the Farm Maintenance position is responsible for the building and grounds and general maintenance of vehicles and farm equipment at Gifford Farm.

Essential Requirements:  

  1. No history of child abuse or negligence.

  2. Working knowledge of farm equipment, basic building maintenance, and repair,    

            Animal care, basic vehicle repair, and maintenance.

  1. Preferred: buildings and grounds experience, general maintenance, and construction experience.

  2. Regular and dependable in-person attendance is required as a condition of employment.

  3. Collaborate with other team leaders related to tasks and projects.

  4. Effective skills in communication and detailed planning.

  5. Successfully pass required background checks.

  6. The assigned duties of this position are not eligible for remote work consideration.

Essential Responsibilities:  

  1. Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
  2. Follow the direction of the Executive Director of Programs Services, Buildings and Grounds Coordinator, and Gifford Farm Coordinator in all matters related to Gifford Farm and Gifford Farm programs.
  1. Perform maintenance tasks as needed to maintain grounds, buildings, fences, equipment, light plumbing, and carpentry skills, vehicle care, mowing and weed eating, farm animal care, and the security of Gifford Farm Education Center.

  2. Notify the Coordinator of supplies needed to perform maintenance tasks.

  3. Pick up, unload, and store animal feed and supplies.

  4. Assist in chores related to maintenance of the Educational Programs.

  5. Assist Cropland lessee as needed.

  6. Other duties as assigned.  Example:  general maintenance /cleaning and upkeep of the property.  The employee may also help with animal chores that might consist of being in close proximity to farm animals.
