Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Assistant Director to support the Educational Opportunity Center in the Trio program.

The Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating the educational outreach and programming required to meet grant objectives. Also plays a role in increasing the enrollment, retention, and the successful completion of postsecondary educational programs. Works with the under served adult target population through the provisions of educational access information, financial literacy assistance (including application for aid), and career counseling. Supports the EOC Director in managing and overseeing the project. Works a varying schedule that includes evenings and occasional weekends. This is a full time, grant funded position.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and direct educational programming to include GED and ESL classes. Assist program Director with supervising, monitoring, and evaluating program activities.
Identify and select eligible participants for project services that count toward the grant mandated goal of participants served. Build and maintain confidential files on recruited participants database to include documentation of all services provided.
Orient target area agencies and schools on project goals and services.
Assist eligible participants with the application process for admission, re-admission, graduation equivalency, and financial aid.

Qualifications

Masters degree required, education, counseling, student affairs or related fields preferred.
Two years experience required.
Skills in mentoring and working directly with high school and/or college student populations. Additional background in science or math tutoring field is preferred.
Knowledge of student advising or student programming, and skills in program development, teaching, counseling.
Knowledge of the issues and challenges facing first-generation and low-income students in higher education is a plus.
