Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Trauma Registrar to join the Trauma Program team. We are a level one adult and level 2 pediatric trauma center, verified by the American College of Surgeons. The Trauma Registrar is responsible for clinical data abstraction and coding for our trauma database. We are looking for someone with strengths in time management, detail focused, and organized. This role has the option to be a hybrid or remote position.

Duties: Trauma Registrar
Support all aspects of trauma registry. Analyzes and abstracts detailed clinical and administrative data from the medical record to meet hospital, accreditation and regulatory agency requirements. Initiates and performs required follow up activities to assist in improving clinical outcomes. Conduct and present trauma registry reports. Responds to request for information utilizing available trauma related database resources. Support activities to develop and implement solutions to meet ongoing changing requirements of the State Trauma Registry.
Required Qualifications: Trauma Registrar
* Minimum of two years experience in a health related field working with data collection, analysis, reporting, and quality review required
* High school education or equivalent required.
* Completion of medical terminology course required.
* Strong personal computer skills, database management, Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of statistics required.
* Proven ability to learn and operate computer software programs required.
* Extensive use of PC based computer software applications such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing and e-mail required.
* Demonstrated ability to organize, maintain, process and analyze vast amount of clinical information/data and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner is required.
* Able to balance multiple priorities on an ongoing basis required.
* High attention to detail required.
* General use of audiovisual, office, and telecommunications equipment required.
* Successful completion of an approved Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course completed within one year of hire required.
* Completion of approved trauma registry course within one year of hire required.
* Completion of approved ICS-10 course, or an ICD-10 refresher course every five years required.
Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Registrar
* Trauma registry related or health care related registry preferred.
* Registered Health Information Specialist (RHIT) or Associate's degree in health related field preferred.
* Independent problem-solving skills and self-directed work experience preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to organize and execute work independently and effectively within frequent deadlines is preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
* Familiar with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding preferred.
