Shift Security Advisor (Overnight shift)

Responsibilities
 

**This is an overnight shift. Shift will be Monday - Friday 10pm - 6am.

 

The Shift Security Advisor directs and implements the Physical Security Plan for the assigned shift, monitors and analyzes personal issued and departmental assigned equipment and other related security equipment to assure they are in proper working order. The Shift Security Advisor will also coordinate and lead shift meetings to ensure the security force is aware of the current operating status, upcoming events, and any/all changes to standard operations and situations of OPPD and related areas. The Shift Security Advisor will provide day to day interaction with site personnel and management to ensure operational security coverage and compliance.  Additionally they will observe and approve appropriate training qualifications, provide performance/appraisal feedback for personnel on the shift, ensure safe work habits are followed, verify the professional conduct and appearance of all members of the security force, and directs the activities of the vendor security and OPPD security. Shift Security Advisors identifies when operations and procedures require alignment, proposes constructive solutions including recommendations or draft documents to reflect necessary changes.  

1. Administers the Physical Security plan/programs as established including coordination and oversight of the activities of the contracted/vended Security Personnel on assigned shifts. 
      - Assure the Security Manager is kept aware of security events and situations which may impact operations.
      - Conduct routine inspections to assure security personnel carry out their duties in a professional manner, including maintenance of proper uniform, maintenance of appropriate equipment and facilities and performance of the duties and responsibilities for each post to which they are assigned.
            - Provide coaching and feedback to all security staff (as required) to ensure accountabilities and expectations are met.
            - Develop and distribute performance documentation for assigned shift personnel  
      - Direct shift personnel during daily and non-business hours and coordinate actions with OPPD operations and local law enforcement when necessary and appropriate
      - Maintain all records and documentation necessary and provide proper notifications, including facility management and others as directed, when events occur which fall into the reportable categories.

2. Analyze ongoing operations, policies, procedures, training, and other governing standards to identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies and effective delivery of services.
       a. Develop and deliver recommendations to peer group and Manager for consideration
       b. Participate in and/or lead the design and implementation of approved recommendations

Qualifications

 

Required: 
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in the field of communication, education, psychology or business, or the equivalent in formal education/experience. 
- Five (5) years' experience in security or law enforcement. 
- Working knowledge of security practices and operations used in safeguarding persons and property. This includes emergency response procedures, physical security requirements, related processes and documentation.    
- Broad background in security force operations or law enforcement.
- Supervisory skills and knowledge demonstrated by having filled responsible charge positions
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work effectively with all levels of OPPD personnel.
- Valid Driver's license.

Desired: 
- Ten (10) years of experience in industrial or governmental security or law enforcement.
- Certifications in security and protection from recognized security organizations.

Time Demands:
1. This position is considered an "essential position" meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee's normal shift.
2. Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy.  
3. Must maintain 24-hour availability for technical and professional assistance, emergency response, and directing remedial action in response to such emergencies, as well as maintain availability as required for on call duty.
 
Physical Demands:
Must have the ability to: work on multiple tasks at one time; work under stressful situations; operate a computer and other office equipment; sit at a desk for more than one hour at a time; move about the Company and interact with all levels of the Company. 
Frequent requirements of this position: sitting, speaking, hearing, ability to see information in print and/or electronically, keyboarding, and handling objects with hands. Occasional requirements of this position: standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting and carrying at least 25 pounds, and driving. Must be physically capable of climbing. Must meet established requirements related to color differentiation.

Base: $71,269

Midpoint: $89,086
